Sign-Express worked with Teal Construction to permit, produce and install the new Houston Community College (HCC) Custom Routed School in Houston, Texas.  Sign-Express was approached by Teal Construction to permit and produce the new HCC sign for the Acres Home area college during the construction phase.  Two custom routed school signs were designed by architects for the site.  The Sign-Express project management team applied and acquired the City of Houston permits for the location then began production on the two school signs.

The Sign-Express production team started the daunting task of producing the individual aluminum cut files that would make us the base of the routed sign.  Then using a 1.5″ thick sheet of acrylic, the push through letters were routed to allow for a 1″ protruding backlit letter.  Next came the task of applying vinyl to the various pieces of routed letters that would require a color.  By applying vinyl to the face of the letter and leaving the sides uncovered, the sign will give a soft glow while illuminating the newly colored letter.

Installing LED lighting into a 16′ long aluminum monument with only 10″ width can present a problem when service in the future is in mind.  The production manager designed sliding rails and removable aluminum panels that can be pulled from the side area of the monument.  This will allow LED modules to be replaced or serviced without deconstructing the entire monument in the future.  All LED power supplies are conveniently located on the ends with easy access.
