My name is Taylor Hauhio. I am a Sales Representative for Sign-Express. I am the wife of Joshua Hauhio, Lead Designer of Sign-Express, and mommy to a beautiful 18-month-old Hawaiian princess. This year is the first year my little girl will be able to Easter Egg Hunt with the rest of the kids at the church. As a very new and Christian mother, it’s very important to me that all the Bible stories I learned growing up, that made me who I am today, get passed down to my daughter and the rest of my future children.
So with Easter upon us, I’m getting ready for her first really memorable Easter. From the new outfits and gift baskets to pictures, crafts and eggs, I found myself getting a little preoccupied with all the superficial “Easter traditions.” So, as my little family and I start making our annual traditions, I’m making a point to remember the real reason for the seasons.
Christmas is such a huge holiday, as it should be, because we are celebrating the birth of Jesus. But I think we forget that Good Friday and Easter are really where the Gospel gets its power from. Think about it… If it weren’t for THIS WEEK, if it weren’t for the sacrifice that Jesus made, would Christmas even matter? Would anything even matter? Easter Sunday is the day that Jesus conquered death. This is the week that paved the way for generation and generations to know God and know peace. This is the week that fulfilled all the prophesies in the Word.
So what does Easter mean to me? Easter is everything. It means my Savior not only came to us and lived a perfect life, it means he gave up that life…and in the most painful and humiliating way possible. The Resurrection means anything is possible. It means, nothing can separate me, or my husband, or my children from God’s love; not even death. Those are the things I want my daughter to understand. Those are the things I want her to remember when this holiday rolls around every year. I want her to know love, and know who first loved us.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful and memorable Easter weekend. I encourage you to make memories and teach your own kids about God’s amazing acts of love, the reason we celebrate this weekend. I know I will!
God Bless,
Taylor Hauhio
